Administrative Assistant

Job description

Rhode Island Nursing Education Center seeks candidates for the position of Administrative Assistant, to assist RINEC administration with the coordination of administrative operations and activities essential for the efficient functioning of the education center for 15 hours/week.

Essential Duties

  • Serve as first point-of-contact for students, faculty, and staff who enter the RINEC administrative suite. Incoming requests may include inquiries regarding access cards, parking, space reservations, work orders, etc. Work with appropriate staff members to ensure requests are fulfilled.
  • Assist with coordination of special events such as meetings, conferences, and social events, including providing guided tours of the center.
  • Answer phones and greet visitors.
  • Assist with taking meeting minutes, filing, copying, faxing, scanning and printing, access card management, and facility scheduling assistance.
  • Supporting the coordination of administrative calendar for internal and external access.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma and experience in an administrative and/or customer service setting preferred.

  • Ability to work non-standard hours as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to interpret institutional policies, plans, objectives, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle information of a sensitive and confidential nature.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills.

This position will be a hybrid role, with the staff member supporting activities onsite as needed. This is a non-union, temporary part-time/per diem position not to exceed 15 hours per week; expected to last for up to 5 months. Starting hourly wage is between $18-20/hr, depending on qualifications and experience. Payment is made once a month; applicable taxes withheld. There are no fringe benefits with this position. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
