Rhode Island Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner seeks candidates for the position of Event Coordinator, a part-time position to coordinate and support event logistics for RI Nursing Education Center-hosted educational, community, and stakeholder-focused programs, which include simulation events, workshops, student showcases, and special engagements with academic, clinical, and public audiences.
Essential Duties
- Plan and coordinate logistics for events including scheduling, room set-up, materials preparation, vendor coordination, and catering when applicable
- Keep detailed notes on event logistics and help keep RINEC staff updated with details
- Provide on-site event support including check-in, set-up/tear-down, tech support liaison, and point -of-contact for attendees
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote events across RINEC and community partners
- Maintain RSVP and attendance records; assist with post-event surveys and summaries
- Assist with the development of event materials, signage, and presentations
- Ensure events are inclusive, welcoming, and aligned with RINEC’s mission and values
- Perform related administrative support tasks as needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required and prior event coordination, hospitality or program support experience strongly preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings or early mornings
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage logistics and multitask under pressure
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic online survey tools (e.g., Google Forms, Eventbrite, or similar)
- Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders with professionalism and cultural competence
- Strong attention to detail and customer service orientation
This is a temporary, part-time/per diem position not to exceed 19 hours per week, with the possibility of renewal depending on funding and performance. The coordinator reports to the RINEC director. Payment is made once a month, with the first payment the following month after starting. Hourly rate is $22-25/hr, depending on experience. This position is not eligible for fringe benefits.
