Simulation Center & Skills Lab

First & Second Floor

The RINEC Simulation Center includes 11 suites capable of hosting a wide variety of activities. Each suite consists of a simulated clinical space, a debriefing area, and a control room. While many of our spaces are modular to better accommodate the changing needs of healthcare, the RINEC Simulation Center also includes several purpose built areas including: the OR, the Emergency Department suite, and a home-care setting.

The second floor of the RINEC is comprised of seven practice labs. These labs allow students to combine theory and hands-on practice throughout the nursing curriculums. Specialty specific labs include: pediatrics, maternity, and critical care.

  • Each debrief room accommodates up to 12 individuals (i.e., a traditional size clinical group of 8-10 students plus 1-2 faculty/clinical instructors)
  • Observation rooms have seating for 2-3 individuals that can include the simulation technician, simulation coordinator, nurse educator and/or graduate assistants.

  • These specialty specific labs include 6 individual bays, with the appropriate hospital bed (pram/crib; maternity bed; critical care bed) and seating for 12 students.
  • The health assessment skills labs have 12 patient exam bays, with standard exam tables, and classroom seating for 24 students.
  • The medical/surgical skills labs have 10 individual patient bays, with standard hospital beds, and classroom seating for 18 students.
  • All skills labs are outfitted with the same IT and AV components as the traditional classrooms to allow for projection and other presentations.
